Customize the Joomla template
In Joomla the graphics can be modified easily. Now we can modify the default template, by replacing the some parts of it
To modify the Joomla template, we access the Joomla backend and we click on the the menu “Extension ~ template management”.
We suppose to use rhuk_milkyway, the default template, even if the following instructions apply themselves to any joomla template equippedwith parameters.
We have to check in the box “parameters” that the params.ini file is writeable. Otherwise, we must act on the write permission of such a file using a client FTP. We can now modify the colours of the template: the colour used for the forms and that for the background.
The box “Template width” allows us to select the dimension engaged by the template: fluid, little, average or big.
Done this, we see as modify graphics to fit it at our site: we imagine to change some part of the web site, for example the logo. Open our client FTP and connect to the Joomla site. We must upload in the folder templates/rhuk_milkyway/images the new logo.
Now we open the menu “Extension-Template management”. We select the template in use (rhuk_milkyway) and push the button in the next page ” Mod. CSS” to modify the css template.
From the list of the CSS files which compose the template select the principal, that is template.css, and we select”modifies”.
The shown page is a form which allows to modify the CSS file of our web template. We use the function “finds” of the browser looking for the word “logo”.
Now we modify the definition of div#logo, writing in the propety “background” the path of the new logo.
Push the button”applies” in high to right and we open the preview of the site. Updating the page we can see as the website design templates is changed.
We can go back to the page of modification of the file CSS to modify the css again and perfect the visualization of the new logo: borders, width and every other useful setting.
