One of the things you encounter when you start working in SEO is that when you search on it to find out more, you come up with a lot of links with regard to affiliate marketing. I had no idea what that was when I got on with the training course to build up my skills and I just ignored them as it did not appear to have any great significance.
What has become evident now that I’m more experienced is that the two disciplines go as a match very well. affiliate marketing has to do with setting up a website and making partnerships with business companies and putting in your pages links and adverts to those associate sites to send traffic to them, and the partner businesses are happy to pay a commission of any business done to the affiliate for creating the traffic. Why do they do this?
Well, put simply, if a firm intends to sell its wares on its website it has two options. It can depend wholly on its own efforts as far as online SEO and pay per click advertising and try to attract all its own visitors to the website. Or, by offering a financial encouragement, it can allow affiliates to insert links and adverts and have traffic attracted from greater numbers of sources and thus take advantage from the increased promotion, SEO and links which will be seen by the search engines.
The US is where the innovation began and they are, of course, years in front in terms of affiliate marketing being accepted as a usual business activity and the willingness of sellers to give percentages to, in reality whoever who includes a link on their website. However, it is fast becoming common in UK commerce and affiliate program providers are starting up and offering the service to be the connector, bringing together advertisers to affiliates and providing technical support in things like link production, monitoring, collecting and sending the commission payments to affiliates.
Now, none of this is going to make a bit of difference to the advertiser unless the affiliate marketing web pages with their link is found and so it is essential that anybody considering having a go at affiliate marketing knows something about effective SEO as well because otherwise you are going to can spend a lot of time and a bit of money on getting your site, setting it up, choosing your partners and getting the adverts and links. And yet it’s pointless unless you can get your page on the search engines in a location where prospective visitors can discover it and go to it.
