The Development To Google Presents Search Results Doesn’t Make A Difference Search Engine Optimisation

Google has announced the Google Instant format of its search engine which is a major step in the development of searching for web content. The change is that rather than typing in words to describe the the search and pressing Enter, or clicking the Go button, the list of matching links appears in-flight as more search words are entered. It’s very impressive and makes searching much more straightforward since a search can be refined and tweaked with immediate results.

What does this mean for search engine optimisation? To be honest, it depends who you are. If you are presenting yourself as an affordable SEO company and doing search engine optimisation services then it really doesn’t make any difference at all. Plenty of bloggers have been opining that it is pulling the plug on online marketing and will reduce search engine optimisation to an insignificance.

If you are a business with a website and have hired the skills of a software consultancy or employed an affordable SEO company to place your website to the top of the search results displays, it’s a super idea because you can see immediately if your money is being well spent with a positive purpose.

I don’t concur that the end is nigh for search engine optimisation. For the simple reason that the way Google, AltaVista and the others operate their search magic is completely unchanged. They still depend on associating links and keywords to be able to work out the relevance of a search word to a potentially suitable web page. And as the algorithms are constantly being tweaked (which could make a massive difference) then merely changing the way that Google presents its results make not make a jot of difference.

In another world, if a software consultancy suggested changing the way your website was designed without really changing the information displayed then there is no worthwhile alteration to anything except to the eye of the user. An alteration to the way the data was gathered based on a reworking of how the database was used would be a significant amendment. And so it is with Google Instant. The work of the search engine optimisation consultant stays the same as it was prior to the change.

It is fair to say that anyone whose livelihood relies totally on somebody else is always likely to be worried about any changes that could be made having a harmful effect. This is in rality the exact same position as anybody who works in a factory who may sweat about his employer packing up all the plant and tools and sending them off to China or Malaysia, or in fact anyone who works for anybody else who may get up with a hideouos hangover and sack the complete department.

The fact is that the search engine optimisation will perpetually be subject to disturbance if Google was to severely alter the way the search engines work. But the point that they do work and anyone would need an extraordinarily good reason to pluck and re-feather the golden goose.

So someone who has an affordable SEO company (or an expensive one) need have no fear about Google amending and improving the way it presents search results. It makes no difference at all to how search engine optimisation works.
