Team Development 101

Nearly all businesses recognize that developing a decent team philosophy in the place of work is valuable for the success of the procedure. Even so, this understanding is not as important as taking the steps to actually building team building a relationship within a company.

For starters, you need to arrange a time when everybody can get together, ideally during the workday instead of during employee’s own time. It needs to be a time frame when phone calls are not taken, and when there are no other pressing obligations. Nowadays, this on it’s own can be extremely challenging, as more and more employees have an increasing number of tasks to carry out, and less time to complete them in. However, it is essential that the time be quality time, free from the disturbances of a typical day.

There are lots of varied team strengthening ideas floating around, but not many are appropriate for your particular scenario. The idea really needs to be something that everybody is comfortable taking part in, is something that does encourage teamwork, whilst not having people uncomfortable. For example, you could organize a team quiz, but not every body likes these, and it could easily leave out individuals whose English or basic information is not very sturdy. Or you might arrange some sports activities, however for those who are unfit, this may not be seen as a good idea.

Physical exercises frequently do the job considerably better, as most of us experience enough sitting around throughout the day as it is, and offering something to actually perform, as an alternative to just thinking about things, can be a bonus. Scavenger hunts do the job well for most companies, and leave you with a variety of opportunities. The hunt could be for one half hour, or a few hours, the option is yours. They can be lots of fun, and are relatively easy to plan. They may be organized all over the community, so activity is involved in moving to different locations to find the gadgets. Now you may be concerned about the groups breaking up to complete their tasks faster, however this potential can be overcome by having each team take their whole group photo at each place. Needless to say you may adjust the guidelines of the hunt in any way you wish to make it more enjoyable, or to fit in a time restriction, or whatever.

There are quite a lot of other variations on the scavenger hunt idea that work well for team development and they do not take a great deal of time to organize and put in place. If this is your first team improvement activity, then keep it short,  simple and fun, so that everybody will look ahead to the up coming event.
