Indianapolis Web Design Tips: How To Tell You’ve Got a Bad Client

We all dream that our working relationships go on without a hitch, especially that between a web designer and his customers and clients. While it’s essential to find out at what makes an unsavory web designer, clients must also be aware that sometimes, they may be the ones with the hang-ups! Luckily, the people of Indianapolis Web Design were honest with us and readily shared stories of bad client traits. In the spirit of fairness, we interviewed an Indianapolis Web Designer and grilled him on what makes a bad client. Through their honest answers, we can all hopefully take away a lesson or two and try to watch our traits that make us difficult to work with. Below are just some of the traits to tell you’ve got a bad client

1. The client doesn’t give any agreement to terms right from the start- Indianapolis Web Design tells us that they flat out refuse to work with clients who do not agree to any terms from the start. Usually, these will be the clients that will try to renegotiate designer rates once an amount has been agreed on. The Indianapolis Web Designer we talked to also said that people who will not give a confirmation on project end dates are bad news. Another red flag is if nothing is in writing, not even email confirmations. It is best not to work with people who are just not clear.

2. The client will not give any scope to your work- A web designer’s work is 90 percent based on his client’s instructions. Indianapolis Web Design have encountered clients who refuse to specify the exact details of what the project will entail. If a client will not sign off a clear project plan, there is always the danger that the project will just go on forever, and clearly no one wants that!

3. A disorganized client- According to Indianapolis Web Design, it’s easy to tell if a client is disorganized. If the client, no matter how much you prod and ask and present, is still not clear on what exactly he wants, then he may not be worth your time. The whole project could just turn out to be a waste of time for both parties.

4. A disrespectful client- A client, no matter how much he pays you, or who he is, has no right ever to be disrespectful, rude and obnoxious with you. You should firmly stand your ground and refuse to work for anyone who treats you in such a horrible manner! This last warning is a non-negotiable and a must. Do not let anyone disrespect you, it’s as simple as that!
