If the main navigation doesn’t allow for you to include important links, you can always use a sidebar or the footer. This should also be done if your website has Flash or JavaScript navigation as the spiders cannot index your site if they don’t know about all your content. Alternatively there may be content you don’t want people to see- use a robots.txt file to solve this:
User-agent: * Disallow: /
This would stop any spiders from indexing anything on your site and you can modify the document to disallow entire folders or individual files.
