Looking for a web designer to update, improve or build your website from scratch can seem like a daunting, and difficult process. Do you know what you’re supposed to look for in a Web Designer? Most of us have no idea what to prioritize in hiring web designers. In my own personal experience, I lucked out when I chose Fort Collins Web Design. The Fort Collins Web Designer I worked with gave my site what it needed and more. So, what qualities did he have, that you should look for in your own web designer?
1. Experience is important, but do not make it your determining criteria. When I first interviewed the Fort Collins Web Designer I worked with, I saw that he had little experience compared to many other designers out there. If I had only based it on experience, then he wouldn’t have worked for me. However, Fort Collins Web Design is known for fantastic work, so when he showed me what he was able to do, I was absolutely impressed. The designer I hired was nice and easy to deal with , and always answered emails on time. Therefore, while experience is important, it isn’t really everything!
2. Ask to see your designer’s portfolio- I touch on this point in the first point I mentioned above. In my experience with Fort Collins Web Design, the designer’s portfolio was the clincher that led me to work with him. Even though my designer was relatively new in the business, his portfolio showed that he was very skilled at what he did. He was able to deftly show how he designed for different websites, introducing me to the great many styles and feels he was able to make. By looking through his portfolio, I got a clear picture about his web designer’s work, and I instantly knew what I wanted my website to look like and how it should function.
3. Ask about your designer’s skills. The skills that you need in a web designer is definitely dependant on what you need for your website. So before working with Fort Collins Web Design, I determined if I would want flashy graphics to my website. The best way to find out your designers skills is to simply ask. Ask your designer if he is familiar with HTML, CSS and Javascript. Ask if he also knows PHP, Flash, Ajax or SEO. These are the most common, yet more important elements to building a website.
Through my checklist, I was able to determine if the web designer I hired was able to really meet my needs. Needless to say, I have no regrets working with Fort Collins Web Design. If you’re from the area, and are looking for web design that’s beautiful and functional, make an appointment with them. I can assure you that they have what it takes to give you the website that you need and want!
