Starting off with an internet mlm (or online mlm) ironically DOESN’T begin with the actual opportunity you are joining. In reality, that is the very last step in the whole process.
My goal with this short article is to give you a decent roadmap of the required steps to success, and then point you to some valuable sites for taking the next step.
First, your journey as an entreprenuer really starts with your thinking. It is common to overlook this and want to jump right in to the nuts and bolts of starting a home-based business, but if you don’t truly think that you can succeed at this, there is no way for you to become eventually successful. You must remove the major limiting beliefs that you have put in your mind that are controlling you and your results. This could be a whole book in its own right (and of course there are MANY such books out there), but for right now we will simply say that you will encounter huge obstacles in beginning your business. You must be realistic about this up front, be willing to fail, and be determined to continue to grow and overcome your mistakes. And, don’t try to impose your own time-tables on eventual success. Beneath everything, you must have a strong purpose in mind that you are working toward.
Next, since this IS an online business that you want to start after all, you must have a proper technological system in place. You’ll need to research and pick a website name, register it, host it, set up your website, and add an autoresponder to it. Fortunately, the setup of all of this is really just a one-time thing, and it really isn’t too bad to do. However, it CAN be tricky and take some time to learn. That is why I have a bunch of online mlm training resources to help you get started and walk you through every step.
One critical note that I’d like to point out here is that you really should be using a blog to maintain your website, and furthermore you should be using wordpress as your blogging system. Having a blog on your site allows you to easily change the look and feel of your site or make site-wide updates with a few clicks of your mouse. Using wordpress especially gives you access to the greatest number of “plugin” options that you can generally use for free and that add useful functionality into your website.
Also, you really MUST get a followup email system and tie it into your blog. You need to have a way to get visitors’ contact information and stay in touch with them over time. There is an entire art as to how to design your site and how to offer something of interest and immediate value to your visitor’s to influence them to give you their contact information that I don’t have the time to go into right now, but keep this in mind as a critical relationship-building tool.
Next comes “hard skills” and defining the strategy. You must do two things here: you need to learn and master just one traffic generation strategy, and you must learn conversion strategies. In the internet marketing world, there are really dozens and dozens of ways to get traffic. The key is to focus all of your energy on just one strategy and completely master it. Whether that is SEO (search engine optimization), PPC (pay per click search engine advertising), article marketing, social media, video marketing, pdf marketing, content network marketing, CPV or CPA marketing (cost per view and cost per action), banner advertising, etc you must strategically learn one strategy and perfect it.
Then, you are qualified to TEACH it. Then, you turn the tables and become sought after rather than feel like you are chasing others. People actually WANT to join you in order to learn from you.
Of course, all the traffic in the world won’t matter unless you can convince (at some future point) some of those people to actually buy what you have. You must learn how to gain trust, build up a relationship by giving out value without expectation of immediate return, and then parlay that into a sale that is a win-win situation for everyone. The critical skill to master here is copywriting. If you attract the right type of person to you, and you learn to write just half-way persuasively, and have real value to offer, you are home-free. Combining that with the traffic strategy that you learned you can now generate local leads AND national and even international leads and sponsor people all over the world.
And last of all, comes the leadership and upline support that you will get by researching and strategically joining up with a marketing group.
I hope this article starts to open your eyes to the process of what is required to become successful. The important thing is to treat this like a home-based business and not a home-based hobby, always learn and develop yourself, and give yourself the time needed to become successful.
