This was announced by the DropBox Company this week that it is going to launch an exciting service based on the photo application called Carousel App on its cloud storage services. This service will help the customers to make a comprehensive photo sharing platform, where all sources of your photos can be merged. This will create a great experience for the customers of the DropBox cloud storage service company.
At an event, the CEO of the company Drew Houston unveiled many value added features and independent services for its cloud storage platform. These consumer products announced by the co-founder CEO of the company include both for the mobile and desktop users. Meanwhile, he explained further that Carousel is also available for many operating systems, such as – iOS, Android, and other popular operating systems.
He further elaborated the features and specifications of this new photo sharing application that, this new application works as a standalone application powered by DropBox cloud storage. It does not store the photos on the mobile or desktop devices, but it stores all photos in the cloud and then works like the Facebook Timeline. This application can arrange the batch of photos in events exactly the same way as the Facebook does on its website.
“Everywhere you are, you have every picture you’ve ever taken organized in a beautiful timeline – But not only that, you have every picture that’s been taken of you,” said Houston. He further added, “When I’m looking at the photos on my phone, I see photos I took with the phone, but I don’t see pictures from my computer or anything else – Instead of one shoebox, I have many shoeboxes.”
While talking about the photo sharing mechanism of this futuristic application, the co-founder and CEO of the company explained that photo sharing is done through a reminiscent of a chat window. These photos can sync directly with the timeline of the users. These photos can be commented, messaged, and can be shared in groups. All this can be done via a tap and click. The application supports auto-back up and sync functions across multiple platforms.
It is important to note that the service is also available on freemium accounts, but for larger cloud storage capacity – more than 5GB – a paid subscription is required.
