Another Australian Made Film Wows Film Enthusiasts

A new Aussie film has recently been released that is based upon a very well-known book for young adults. The Tomorrow When the War Began motion picture is based on a book of the same title by successful Australian writer John Marsden and it has done very well since its launch.

John Marsden, an educator who currently runs his own school in Victoria Australia, wound up crafting books because he was troubled by the lack of enthusiasm his teenage pupils expressed in reading.

He definitely transformed that condition after the initial novel in the series was launched. In reality his novel was so highly regarded that it grew to become part of the English syllabus in Australian high schools and has turned many a non-reader into an avid reader – certainly when it comes to reading his series of the Tomorrow books.

Now the first book from the series has become a motion picture and audiences of all ages happen to be flocking to see it. It’s the journey of seven teenagers who camp in the Australian bush and get back from their time away to discover their households deserted and their loved ones vanished.

They then head into town in order to find out what is going on and find out that their town had been invaded by a unknown enemy force while they were back on their camping holiday. The teenagers do whatever they can to protect themselves from capture by the enemy troops and choose to formulate a scheme to halt the enemy’s grip on the town.

It is a thrilling adventure flick that has you sitting on the edge of your seat in quite a few scenes. The movie brings to light just how each personality grows and develops within the tough environment they find themselves in, and looks at the anxieties each must encounter dealing with what is happening to their town and to their parents, who are being held captive at the district showground. There are enemy soldiers keeping guard over the main streets so they must remain vigilant so they don’t get discovered.

Filming took place in Australia at a few of the unspoiled wilderness zones of the Hunter Valley and Blue Mountain areas, and the action scenes were filmed mainly at the Fox Studios in Sydney.
